Well, one season ends. One amazing streak ends and it all happened in the cold

Well, My beloved Apps lost in incredible fashion Saturday. It was amazing weather in Boone for the game, Mid 40s and sunny at kickoff. We drew a very tough team in the Villanova Wildcats. They are the defending national champions and extremely talented. They came into a hostile (yet rather empty) ROCK and kicked our asses. It was a sad day for everyone in Black and Gold. This senior class is extremely talented and will be missed next year. They accomplished so much and as a student and a fan, I would just like to say Thank you for all the hard work and sacrifice.

The other amazing thing to happen this weekend was the end of Brett Farve's 297 regular season start streak. It began in 1992 (September 27th to be exact) with the Green Bay Packers and included starts with the Jets and the Vikings. Farve is the Iron man of football. No one can ever argue the toughness of the man. Through four teams (Falcons, Packers, Jets and Vikings) and 20 years, Farve has been a constant. I can remember some of the greatest games he ever played and I can remember watching them. To Brett Farve, I would also like to say thank you. You played the game I love with a joy seen less and less as I have gotten older.

It has been a sad weekend. For the players from The Appalachian State University who will never play again, you will look back on the game with anger for a little while, you gave it so much and it took more. But time will heal any open wounds you have and you will slowly again love the game. I hope that you look back and never remember the bad thing, the losses, the injuries, the pain. I hope that you look back and only remember the good times. The practices, the road trips, the wins, the championships and most of all the friends.
